Guidance Notes For Applicants

The Black Hill Wind Farm Community Fund Ltd is a charitable organisation funded by Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES), the operators of the Blackhill Wind Farm situated to the south of Longformacus, Berwickshire.

Its aim is to grant aid to community projects within the community council areas of Abbey St Bathans, Bonkyl & Preston; Duns; Gavinton, Fogo and Polwarth; and Lammermuir.  The fund is managed by a board of 4 Directors representing each Community Council, one director from RES and up to 4 Independent Directors.

Priority will be given to projects within these areas; however the scheme may be extended to other areas at the discretion of the Board.

We have an annual budget of about £35,000 and over recent years we have provided grants of between £300 - £5,000 in support of about 20 applications per annum.  The success of your application will be improved by showing you have explored other funding sources.  Please be advised that core funding for ongoing salary costs is not usually supported.

We are currently looking to add to our board of direcrors to ensure we present our broad and diverse community.  If you would like to join our small and friendly board, we would love to hear from you.  We are particularly interested in hearing from young people and women.  The main qualification required is an interest in and commitment to your community.
